Elite Bookkeeping is a locally owned business that services the Saskatoon area. We are geared towards the private enterprise entrepreneurs (small business) that are looking to outsource their bookkeeping to a professional firm.
and
To teach the Do-It-Yourself type of business owners that want to tackle the bookkeeping on their own.
What Makes Us Different?
We have been there, and done that! Being entrepreneurs ourselves, we have started our own small businesses and know the struggles that come along with it. We have experience inside the accounting/bookkeeping departments of larger companies and most important we have extensive experience on the front lines of a major local accounting firm. This means we know exactly what your accountant wants at year-end, including
- How your books and reports need to be presented
- What spreadsheets, forms, and receipts they need
- What year-end entries they need to perform
- What questions they will ask, and
- How long it should take to complete your year end
When we prepare your books for year-end we will present it to your accounting firm in a way that will make it easy for the preparers, speed up the process, and most important save you money.
When Is It Time To Stop Doing Your Own Bookkeeping?
As Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners we want to control every aspect of our business, we get that first hand. Sometimes the hardest part is to know when to ask for help, and when the cost/benefit of outsourcing out weighs the cost in time of you doing it yourself.
We will gladly provide you with an easy DIY bookkeeping spreadsheet that is all set up with formulas and self check functions in place, just look for the download button on the right hand side of this page.
Before you decide to hand over your bookkeeping to a professional, you need to ask yourself these questions.
Now, if you feel you can meet the deadlines and have the capacity to complete your bookkeeping on your own, by all means. We will even teach you how to do it correctly, just click on the Do-It-Yourself button in the menu bar.
What Type Of Software Should I Use To Track My Own Bookkeeping?
This depends on a how many transactions your business does each month, what type of activity is happening in your business and what type of year-end engagement do you require.
If you are not incorporated and are just running a sole proprietorship business, or you are incorporated but are doing less then 20 transactions each month, this excel spreadsheet should be enough.
If your business is a bit bigger and you are doing more then 20 transactions each month we suggest you upgrade your bookkeeping to a software program.
Especially if you are buying or selling assets, you need to track your transactions per job, or you have some employees and need to set up payroll. Then we would suggest you invest in Sage 50 Simply Accounting software.
There is other bookkeeping software out there such as Quickbooks, however, we only recommend and use Sage 50 because it is the most user friendly and integrates with software the accountants use to prepare your year-end.
This means it speeds up the year-end process, which will save you money at the end of the year.
